Melissa Hiatt, MA, CDWF, CDTLF, Strengths Communicator

I love people and I'm passionate about helping people live lives of courage and freedom.  One path toward courageous living is self-awareness which leads to emotional health. As a Certified Daring Way™ and Dare to Lead™ Facilitator I help people and organizations exercise courage by exploring beneath the surface, embrace vulnerability, feel emotions (good and bad) and understand how emotions affect ones thoughts and behaviors. As a Certified Strengths Communicator, I believe that each person is unique and has great strength to offer themselves and others.  I like understanding and helping to reveal the beauty, genius and brilliance of the people around me.

Daring Greatly™ and Rising Strong™ groups are offered four times per year - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.  Each group lasts seven weeks and has a limited enrollment of 12 people.

Integration Sessions - The key to Daring Greatly™ and Rising Strong™ is integration.  Integration sessions are available to people who have attended a Daring Way™ or Rising Strong™ group.

Daring Way

Daring Greatly
Daring Greatly™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. We will explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead.

Rising Strong
The physics of vulnerability is simple: If we are brave enough often enough, we will fall. The Rising Strong™ process is about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of disappointment, failure, and heartbreak gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and Rising Strong, our clearest path to deeper meaning, wisdom and hope.

Integration Sessions
Daring Greatly™ and Rising Strong™ groups give participants tools for living life differently, but they take practice.  Integration sessions allow participants to explore with Melissa the shame triggers that hook them, how they are using armor and shame shields to disengage and protect themselves from vulnerability, how their values help to guide them during fall down moments, how they are off loading emotion and ways to live BIG with boundaries, integrity and generous assumptions.

About The Dare To Lead Program

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead is an empirically based courage-building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. As a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator I focus on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings and coaching to help individuals, teams and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.

Participants have the option to become Dare to Lead certified. Upon successful completion of the training and an exam, participants will receive a LinkedIn badge recognizing their mastery of the four skill sets of courage and admission to a private LinkedIn group.

Strengths Communicator Conversations
If you have taken Gallup's StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment, you may be thinking, now what? It's not enough to just know your strengths. Through a 1:1 conversation I will help you understand your strengths.  The 1:1 conversations give space for you to explore how you naturally use your strengths at work, at home and in life.  I will help you explore how your strengths give life to you and others.  After our conversation, I will create an original piece of art that represents your strengths and how they work together to impact and influence others in work and life.

StrenthsFinder conversations can be done independently or as a tool for team development.  Strengths based cultures are relational, they develop their work around people's strengths creating a culture of exploration, collaboration and influence.  Strengths development can benefit the workplace, community boards, educational institutions, church leadership teams and so much more.

I describe what I do as helping people get emotionally healthy.  Emotional health impacts our relationships at home, at work and in the community.  I weave stories of life into tangible concepts and experiences that people can connect with.  Participants leave with resources to help them engage in the world in new and authentic ways.

I can speak on leadership, faith, vulnerability, shame, parenting, and much more!
